IBADAH(WORSHIP)
WORSHIP
Islam does not teach or accept mere ritualism. It emphasises
intention and action.To worship Allah is to know Him and love Him,To act
upon his law in every aspect of life, to enjoin goodness and forbid
wrongdoing and oppression,to practise charity and justice and to serve Him
by serving the mankind.The Qur’an presents this concept in the
following sublime manner, It says:
“It is not righteousness that you turn your faces to the east or the
west, but righteous is he who believes in Allah and the last day and the
angels and the book and the prophets and gives his wealth for love of
Him to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to
hose who ask, and to set slaves free; and observes proper worship and pays
the zakat. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and the
patient in tribulation and adversity in times of stress; such are those
who are sincere. Such are God fearing”
(2:177)

SALAH(PRAYER)
Definition of Prayer:The word “ prayer” and it’s derivation have been
used are together in theglorious Qur’an 212 times.This word has two
main meanings as follows:
1.To call but my call has only made them flee the more(71:6)
2.Proclamation, call and voice : “and the parable of those who
disbelieve is as the parable of one who calls out to that which hears no more
than a call and a cry:deaf,dumb[and] blind, so they do not understand”
(2:171)
But the idiomatic meaning of the prayer is : “request and seeking help”
and “praying to Allah for one’s need”.The glorious Qur’an says :
“praise be to Allah, who has given me in old age Ismael and Ishaq :most
surely my Lord is the hearer of prayers of His servants.”(14:39)
The idiomatic meaninng of this word is almost synonimous with
“Invocation”, altough some believe that prayer means to seek help from Allah
and invocation means to recite the attributes and glory and the beauty of
Allah.
